Mr. Kim

Hi! My name is Joo-Young Kim and this is my first year teaching at Carpenter Elementary. Previously, I taught 2 years as a 4th grade classroom teacher in Kent, Washington and 1 year as a 3rd grade classroom teacher at Dicken Elementary. 

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, moved to Korea for a year, and then lived in Seattle, WA for a decade after that. I have lived here in Michigan since 2020 with my family and we’ve recently added two chaotic cats to the mix in the last year.

Outside of teaching, I love cooking, baking, and listening to or playing music whenever I can.
