Ms. Brooks

Ms. Brooks

My name is Marietta Brooks and I am the nurse for Carpenter. Most everyone calls me nurse Rita. I have been a nurse for 46 years  I’ve always considered my career a gift from God. I was employed by Michigan Medicine for 40 years, where I specialized in and pediatric trauma and rehabilitation then Case Management. I retired from Michigan Medicine in 2018. Soon after I realized not only did I not like retirement but  I felt that I had had more to give! I’ve worked for AAPS since 2019. First as a contingent, and then in 2020 I became a permanent employee.  I have enjoyed every minute of it. I have worked at many of the schools in the district, but Carpenter has become my home, and I think it is the perfect fit for me.

On a personal level, I am a mother of two, a grandmother of seven, and a great grandmother of three. I also have two fur babies, Rocky and Beau. I enjoy baking, especially cakes from scratch, cooking, and gardening. I am not sure when I will try retirement again. My goal is to work for five more years. If I reach that goal I want those five years to be as a Carpenter Cougar!
